Love. Loss. and the Belief that Failed

Why I Wrote

This Book

For much of my life, I believed there was something wrong with me. I spent years trying harder, believing more, and searching for answers, never realizing that many of the beliefs shaping my life were the very things keeping me trapped.

When my son became critically ill and later died, the theology I had trusted could no longer make sense of the reality I was living. Instead of finding comfort, I found shame, blame, and explanations that only deepened my pain.

As I began questioning those beliefs, something unexpected happened. I didn’t lose myself. I found the little girl who had spent her life believing she was the problem.

And I discovered she never was.

That’s why I wrote this book.

I wrote it because I don’t want anyone else to spend years believing they are broken when what may actually be broken are the beliefs they’ve been handed.

If sharing my story helps even one person recognize harmful beliefs, trust their own experience, and find the freedom to ask honest questions…

Then every vulnerable page was worth writing.

About

the

Book

Come. Sit with me for a minute. There’s a story I’ve carried for a long time. If I could, I would choose a life where this book never needed to be written. But I can’t. So instead, I’d like to share it with you. Sometimes the stories we most wish had never happened become the very stories that help someone else find the courage to tell the truth about their own.

At its heart, this book explores what happens when the beliefs we inherited no longer hold up under the reality we are living. It’s a story about fear, grief, love, religious trauma, healing, and discovering that authenticity begins when we’re brave enough to tell ourselves the truth—not someone else’s truth, but our own. For much of my life, I believed healing would come when I found the right answers. Instead, I discovered that healing began when I finally trusted myself enough to say, “This doesn’t make sense. This isn’t loving. This isn’t okay.”

Every chapter ends with reflections—not because I want to tell you what to think, but because I want to create space for you to honestly explore your own story. My hope is that, as you read mine, you’ll begin to recognize your own questions, your own courage, and your own capacity to heal. Pull up a chair, get comfy. If we were sitting across from each other with a cup of coffee, this is where I’d begin.

Some of the most meaningful conversations begin with an honest question.

Whether I’m sitting down for a podcast, sharing my story in an interview, or speaking with someone who’s curious about my journey, my hope is always the same—to create honest conversations about grief, healing, faith, relationships, authenticity, and becoming more fully human.

I don’t expect everyone to agree with me. But I do hope these conversations encourage you to think deeply, question courageously, and trust your own journey. Take a look around, listen in, and join the conversation.

Let's

Be Honest.

Some questions aren’t looking for answers. They’re looking for a place to be explored. For much of my life, I believed questions were something to fear.

Today, I see them as invitations—to think more deeply, see from a different perspective, and better understand ourselves. If something you’ve read, heard, or watched has stirred up a question, I’d love to hear it. I can’t promise an answer, but I can promise a thoughtful conversation.

One rooted in curiosity, honesty, compassion, and respect. Sometimes a new perspective changes everything. Sometimes simply feeling heard does. Either way, I’d love to explore it with you.
